The developers, for the first time, offered Epic Games Store exclusivity for this game over the first 12 months after the launch. This move was not at all expected by their fans, to say the least.
Creative Assembly anticipated some strong reactions, so much so that they wrote a blog article explaining why they decided to partner up with Epic Games Store. Some harsh comments were awaited since because of this choice, the game will not be available on Steam for another year.
Nevertheless, the game will be available on the previously mentioned store, starting from the 13th of August! In addition, there is a special launching offer. On the first 24 hours only, you will be able to claim the game for free!
What do we know about the game so far?
As we have come to know from the Total War game series, we are in for a treat! They are coming back strong with the same turn-based empire management strategy they accustomed us to, but now taking us back in time further than ever: the Bronze Age.
The action has the Trojan War as the focus point, presenting the conflict between the Greeks and Trojans, along with their allies. An important mention is that the main source of inspiration for the game is Homer’s Iliad. Moreover, you will dive deep into Greek mythology, as the game will present gods and monsters.
On one hand, the gods will influence real events, therefore if you will build temples and honor them, you will gain rewards. On the other hand, there will be monsters and beasts that will appear in battle, while giving you the possibility to recruit them.
There will be a total of 8 heroes available, including names like Achilles, Hector, Menelaus and Paris. The narrative for this game will be character-led, bringing you closer to the feel of the era.
Furthermore, the economy will be based strictly on resources such as wood, stone and others. As expected, gold has the highest value and is the rarest. It’s only natural that in order to acquire the needed resources, you will have to be very fast and efficient.
Final mentions and conclusions
From what we could gather so far, the game seems to be compatible only with 64bit Windows operating systems. Although, we believe that might change, since the previous Total War games are also compatible with Mac OS and Linux.
Moreover, the franchise fans are very hyped up about the upcoming game. The Total War Saga: Troy is expected to be one of, if not their best release yet!
